Festival of the Arts 2008

Twelfth Annual North Park Festival of the Arts
Coming Sunday, May 18, 2008

North Park, San Diego, CA – It’s an artistic cultural experience for the whole family, the 11th Annual North Park Festival of the Arts. Taking place on, Sunday, May 20th, 2007 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, this FREE neighborhood event is an explosion of arts, culture and entertainment that takes place in downtown North Park, along University Avenue between 30th and 32nd Street. Your day will have something for everyone including breathtaking art, live entertainment, scrumptious food, and all types of entertainment.

Previous year’s attendance topped over 40,000, drawing San Diegans from all over the county to North Park. With all this festival has to offer, this year’s event should draw even more.

The Arts Village is an interactive community of artisans which showcases artists who are creating and displaying their work, allowing visitors to observe the creation of fine art. The juried artists’ area will present local artists displaying and selling their work, and compete for awards.

In addition to the amazing works of art, the festival features over 100 specialty booths and a wide variety of international cuisine.  The adjacent Coffee and Tea Lounge provides a convenient spot to relax, lounge, enjoy some delightful treats, and listen to the music of the nearby stage.

The Kid’s Art Beat lets the little ones can join in on fun and interactive, educational and multicultural art activities. This year’s event will once again feature the Sophia Isadora Academy of Circus Arts.  Kids of all ages are enchanted at the Pet Zone where they can “Ask a Trainer”, learn about adoption, and more from the San Diego Humane Society.

A festival in San Diego just isn’t complete without great live entertainment and the North Park Festival of the Arts is no different.  You can dance, sing, or just enjoy in the talent of some of San Diego’s hottest live bands and exciting dance troupes.

Proceeds for this day-long event will benefit North Park Main Street, a non-profit organization committed to the revitalization of the North Park Business Improvement District.
